The Centre Ivoirien de Recherches Économiques et Sociales contributes to the identification, analysis and resolution of economic and social issues in Côte d’Ivoire and the West African sub-region.

CIRES objectives
The Centre pursues a set of objectives aimed at strengthening research, scientific dialogue, training and expertise.
- 1 Identify the economic and social problems of Côte d’Ivoire and the sub-region.
- 2 Conduct economic and social studies to provide solutions to identified problems.
- 3 Conduct reflection and fundamental research.
- 4 Animate scientific debate in economics within Ivorian society and the sub-region.
- 5 Provide regional training in economics and rural sociology through advanced degrees and doctoral programs.
- 6 Provide continuing education in economics and management.
- 7 Organize high-level seminars and forums.
CIRES achievements
CIRES achievements are structured around human resources, fundamental and applied research, scientific animation and training.
Human resources
CIRES has around fifty permanent researchers and about twenty high-level associate researchers, making it one of the best-endowed research centers in human resources in French-speaking Sub-Saharan Africa.
Fundamental and applied research
CIRES has built solid expertise in economic planning, macroeconomic analysis, agricultural production, poverty reduction, education, health, employment, public policies and development strategies.
Scientific animation
Through monthly seminars, international seminars and scientific exchanges, CIRES provides a framework for discussing research results and development issues at national and regional levels.
Training
CIRES has contributed to doctoral and professional training in rural economics, rural sociology, economic policy management and practical capacity-building for public and private sector executives.
