ANOPACI, CIRES, and PASS have agreed to join forces to work together for the well-being of rural populations.

Fighting poverty in rural areas: Three government agencies join forces

The National Association of Professional Agricultural Organizations of Côte d’Ivoire (Anopaci), the Ivorian Center for Economic and Social Research (Cires), and the Program to Support Social Strategies (Pass) signed an agreement yesterday in Cocody, at the CIRES headquarters, to sign an agreement. This initiative is part of the “Platform for Strengthening and Social Protection in Rural Areas,” a three-year program.

According to the stakeholders, the initiative is inspired by the values and principles of the Copenhagen Declaration (Denmark). It was adopted during the World Summit for Social Development, along with the corresponding commitments made by heads of state. This agreement aims to help reduce poverty in rural areas. Indeed, according to a Cires press release, people in these areas suffer “every day from hunger, lack of income, and lack of resources.”

During the ceremony, Dr. Jean Ette of PASS outlined the terms of this collaboration involving the three organizations. Among other things, Anopaci will provide its expertise, experience, resources, and knowledge of professional agricultural organizations... At Cires, this means contributing public policies related to the agricultural sector. As for Pass, it has committed to overseeing the implementation of projects, including monitoring and evaluation...

The document was signed in turn by Jean-Victor Avité, Diarra Ibrahim, and N’Goan Aka Mathias—respectively, the general director of Pass, the director of Cires, and the chairman of Anopaci.
In his remarks, the head of Cires, Dr. Diarra Ibrahim, emphasized the importance of this partnership. “This agreement allows us to refine our strategies to serve the population. Among several examples, we note that the creation of a health center is very important for the rural population. We don’t conduct research just to rack our brains,” he explained.

An idea supported by the Director General of the Social Strategies Support Program. “We are working together to offer rural populations a comprehensive package. This creates a favorable institutional and technical framework. We are fully committed to advancing the cause of our fellow citizens in rural areas,” he confirmed.

Finally, it was up to the Chairman of ANOPACI, N’Goan Aka Mathias, to express his gratitude to his partners for this solidarity project. “This is a planned initiative that will become a reality. Because it will lead to many other opportunities,” he projected.
